AMSTERDAM - A fire broke out at a detention centre at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport overnight, killing 10 people and injuring 15, Dutch police said on Thursday.
A police spokesman declined to give further details before a news conference due to be held at 04.30 (5.30pm NZT).
The Dutch news agency ANP said the death toll could rise. The fire began shortly after midnight and was brought under control only several hours later, it said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
The detention complex mainly houses suspected drug traffickers, the police spokesman said.
ANP said 350 people were being held in the complex at the time of the fire.
