A 15-year-old boy has been arrested following the violent invasion of an elderly couple's home south of Brisbane.

A 93-year-old man was punched in the face and he and his 91-year-old wife were threatened with a knife during the robbery.

Police say two males broke into the couple's home at Inala, south of Brisbane, about 9.30pm (AEST).

One was armed with a knife and wearing a balaclava.

The thieves grabbed some property from the Hickory Place house before fleeing.

The elderly man was treated in hospital for a cut to the eyebrow.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with armed robbery, break and enter, stealing and two counts of serious assault.

Police say he will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
