A high school teacher has been found guilty of an illicit lesbian relationship with a student.
A Brisbane District Court jury took five hours to find Amanda Louise Thompson guilty of maintaining an unlawful relationship with a child between April 2003 and 2005.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. She will be sentenced at a later date.
The court was told of a relationship that developed when Thompson was a teacher at a school south of Brisbane.
The student was 14 when the affair started.
The court was told Thompson initially took the teenager under her wing when she discovered the student had an eating disorder.
Prosecutor Todd Fuller said they became friends, but that "spun out of control". He said they became inseparable and stayed the night at each other's house to engage in sexual activities.
