Taylor Swift admits buying Sir Peter Jackson's NY apartment

Taylor Swift has revealed herself as the mystery buyer that purchased Sir Peter Jackson's multi-million dollar New York apartments earlier this year.

The celebrated filmmaker sold his two upmarket apartments in New York City in March. At the time, Swift was rumoured to be the purchaser but Jackson's camp refused to confirm the story.

She is understood to have paid about US$20 million ($23 million) for the two properties.

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the chart topper speaks about her move to New York, saying: "I really like my life right now. I have friends around me all the time. I've started painting more. I've been working out a lot. I've started to really take pride in being strong. I love the album I made. I love that I moved to New York. So in terms of being happy, I've never been closer to that."

But buying the properties was hard work as Sir Peter had lent the apartment to his good friend and Hobbit star Sir Ian McKellen.

Real estate agents were loath to bother the A-lister, making viewings near impossible.

"I think once you're Gandalf, you can always just stay in Peter Jackson's house," Swift tells the magazine.

The two apartments sit side by side but are not joined. The smaller of the two has three bedrooms and bathrooms, while the larger one is a six-bedroom penthouse. Both feature hardwood floors and exposed wooden beams.

This latest purchase swells an extensive residential portfolio for Swift with homes in Beverly Hills, Nashville and Rhode Island.
