Sydney tunnel toll subsidy up in the air

The New South Wales Government has refused to confirm whether it will extend a subsidy on the toll paid by motorists who use Sydney's Cross City Tunnel.

A three-month halving of the A$3.56 ($4.28) toll is to end next Tuesday.

Patronage of 35,000 a day is well short of the 80,000 vehicles expected when the tollway opened last August.
