Surgeons more suicidal than general public

An American College of Surgeons study suggests medical errors, job burnout and depression lead surgeons to contemplate suicide at higher rates than the general public.

Fear of losing their jobs contributes to a reluctance to get mental health treatment.

Nearly 8000 surgeons participated. Answers were anonymous.
