KEY POINTS:
A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 hit the South Pacific in the Loyalty Islands region this morning, according to the US Geological Survey website.
The quake struck at 7.26am (NZ time), was 41.4km deep and 135km south south-west from Vanuatu.
No damage was immediately reported, AFP reported.
