Adult film star Stormy Daniels has revealed her regrets over her alleged affair with Donald Trump in a new podcast with former enemy Michael Cohen.
Daniels – whose real name is Stephanie Clifford – sensationally claimed she slept with Donald Trump in 2006, just months after the ex-president's third wife Melania gave birth to son Barron.
Trump denied the allegations, but during his 2016 presidential campaign, his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen arranged a US$130,000 hush-money payment for Daniels.
He was later charged with breaking campaign contribution rules over that payment and a similar one made to Playboy model Karen McDougal, in addition to tax evasion and lying to Congress, and was sentenced to three years in jail.
He is now serving the rest of his sentence from his New York apartment due to the coronavirus pandemic, and has launched his own podcast, Mea Culpa.
Daniels has claimed she received threats and attacks from Trump's supporters after coming forward, and during her conversation with Cohen, she shared her fresh fears of legal retribution now Trump, 74, has left office.
Daniels sued Trump for defamation after he denied her claims but the case is still pending.
Daniels said the dying days of the Trump administration felt like being inside the "eye of the storm" and that she was now preparing for a "second wave" of backlash after taking the case to the US Supreme Court.
"I've already lost everything, so I'm taking it all the way," she said.
"My battle is just now starting.
"People are really upset, and they're just going to get more pissed off at me."
She also revealed she regretted the entire encounter with Trump.
"Overall, if I could just wave a magic wand and make everything go back to the way it was before, I would absolutely do that," she said.
During the podcast, Daniels also revealed new details of the 2006 encounter – which she described as "the worst 90 seconds of my life" – which she said she only recently remembered.
"I remember even thinking ... I can definitely outrun him. There's a bodyguard at the door. But I wasn't threatened, I was not physically threatened," she said.
"And then so I tried to sidestep ... I was like, trying to remember really quickly, where did I leave my purse, like I gotta get out of here. And I went to sidestep and he stood up off the bed and was like, 'This is your chance.'
"And I was like, 'What?' and he was like, 'You need to show me how bad you want it or do you just want to go back to the trailer park.'"
Donald Trump's Senate impeachment trial proceedings will begin tomorrow (February 9, US time).
