Star confident of recovery

Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas, 66, is confident of having beaten cancer after doctors told him a throat tumour had disappeared.

The Wall Street actor revealed in August that he was suffering from the illness but continued to get out and about despite being left gaunt and weak as a result of his treatment.

He lost 14kg during his treatment and would now have to have monthly check-ups, he told US talk show Today.
