Supporters of the Fiji coup leader have threatened to storm a radio station as the situation in Suva slides towards anarchy.
George Speight has begun targeting the media, saying he is unhappy about the coverage he is getting.
A mob attacked Fiji Television overnight after it broadcast an interview which criticised Speight.
During the rampage a police constable was shot dead.
Virifila Buadromo from FM96 in Suva says three of their journalists have been abducted and the station itself is under threat.
She says they are expecting that to happen and have given staff the choice of going home.
Foreign Affairs Minister Phil Goff is urging New Zealand reporters to think very carefully before going anywhere near coup leader George Speight.
