South Korea's coast guard says five Somali pirates captured during a raid on a hijacked cargo ship in the Arabian Sea have been brought to South Korea to stand trial. Coast guard officer Eum Jin-kyung says investigators plan to quiz the pirates for 10 days before handing them over to South Korean prosecutors for an indictment.
The pirates were arrested in a raid by South Korean commandos on the hijacked Samho Jewellery earlier this month, a week after they seized the freighter and its 21 crew members. The commandos rescued the crew of the South Korean ship and killed eight Somali pirates.
