The son of a flamboyant London barrow boy turned "lord of the booze cruises" has been charged with his murder after the 70-year-old was found stabbed to death at his home in Mayfair.
David West, who reputedly bought the title "Lord of the Manor of Hollesley" on eBay, made his fortune selling alcohol to day trippers from a double decker bus in Calais.
It was so successful that the Romford-born businessman opened a warehouse, which he named EastEnders after the soap. It is now said to be the biggest UK-owned cash-and-carry in Europe.
West was known for his fondness for expensive cars, beautiful women and colourful suits.
He moved into the London nightclub business with the club HeyJo.
