Some Australian Muslims who could face immediate detention under proposed new anti-terrorist laws trained with al Qaeda while it was sponsored by the CIA, says Keysar Trad, a prominent Islamic spokesman.
Newspapers have reported that up to 80 Australian Muslims could be placed under effective house arrest under the proposed laws.
They would apply to anyone who had trained with any of 17 banned terror groups.
