LONDON - Six men were charged with an array of terrorist offences today after police swooped on what they said was a network of suspected terrorist recruiters.
Several men were detained in raids across south London at the start of this month, 12 of them as they ate in a Chinese restaurant.
Among those charged today was Atilla Ahmet, accused of soliciting or encouraging people "to murder another person or persons, namely person or persons who do not believe in the Islamic faith".
Moussa Brown was charged with "providing instruction or training in the making or use of firearms".
The raids came three weeks after police said they had thwarted a plot to bring down US-bound airliners over the Atlantic. Seventeen people have been charged in connection with the alleged plan. Police said the south London arrests were not linked to that suspected plot.
