Two jet skiers have been filmed racing through a pod of dolphins near Hobart, Tasmania.
Tasmanian police have confirmed they are investigating the incident, which took place at Frederick Henry Bay in Lauderdale on Saturday.
In the clip, the two jet skiers, each carrying a man and a woman, are seen coming up behind the pod before racing over the top of them, prompting screams from onlookers. It is not seen whether any of the dolphins are harmed.
Onlookers told the Mercury it appeared the riders did it deliberately, however one of the riders claimed to the paper the dolphins had been following them before and after the footage was taken and they had done nothing wrong.
Wildlife biologist Kris Carlyon told the Mercury the mammals would likely not return to the area.
