Ariel Sharon's tenure as Israel's Prime Minister came to a symbolic end at a Cabinet meeting yesterday.
Under Israeli law, Sharon will be categorised on Friday as permanently incapacitated from a stroke. Yesterday, the Cabinet designated interim PM Ehud Olmert as Acting PM, effective from then.
Olmert will become PM in his own right once the government he hopes to put together is sworn in.
