A 19-year-old surfer died after he was attacked by a shark at Campbells Beach, near Coffs Harbour on the northern coat of New South Wales yesterday afternoon.
Zac Young was surfing with friends about 100m offshore at Riecks Point when he was bitten on the legs. His friends pulled him to shore and started CPR.
He had a heart attack as a result of his injuries and paramedics were unable to save him, an ambulance spokeswoman said.
The beach was closed and water police patrolled the area.
The attack follows a fatal shark attack in Western Australia last Saturday.
