Six Greenpeace protesters who scaled Britain's tallest building were last night in police custody.
The female activists reached the top of the Shard in central London yesterday after 15 hours of climbing. They were protesting against oil drilling in the Arctic.
On reaching the top of the 72-storey building, two of the campaigners unfurled a 10m by 10m blue flag with "Save the Arctic" written in white across it.
They were later arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass.
The women, who evaded security guards to begin their climb, said it was intended to put Shell and other oil companies in the spotlight.
