A shallow magnitude 6.2 earthquake has struck the Vanuatu region this morning, but has not generated a tsunami.
The United States Geological Survey said the quake struck at 10.06am (local and NZ time), 77km southwest of the capital Port Vila, at a depth of only 10km.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre has not issued an advisory following the quake.
