PRISTINA, Kosovo (AP) Voting will be re-run in three polling centers in the northern town of Mitrovica after a mob of masked men attacked staff and destroyed voting material during last week's tense local election, Kosovo officials said Wednesday
An official close to the Central Election Commission told The Associated Press the new voting will be held Nov. 17. He spoke on condition of anonymity because the date had not yet been made public.
Votes cast in three other municipalities where Serbs are a majority are expected to be counted as valid.
The prime ministers of Kosovo and Serbia discussed the voting in Brussels Wednesday at a meeting chaired by the European Union's foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton. Serb participation is a key part of an EU-brokered deal to normalize relations between the two.
Arriving for the talks, Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Thaci said the elections had been "an important European test for Kosovo and we have successfully passed."
