KEY POINTS:
Two United States Secret Service officers were injured in an accidental shooting yesterday at the White House in a security booth at the southwest gate.
One officer was injured in the leg and the other received a shrapnel wound in his face.
In a separate incident, Lafayette Park in front of the White House was closed because of a suspicious package. There was a security clampdown at the White House because of both incidents.
