But it is one of the few signs of tougher security at the open-front bars and restaurants along the Kuta Beach strip, one year after militant Muslims bombed two nightclubs, killing 202 people, including 88 Australians and three New Zealanders.
Indonesian police will be on high alert this weekend for remembrance ceremonies being attended by Australian Prime Minister John Howard.
Senior officials from 19 other countries to suffer casualties, including Indonesia, will also be present.
More than 2060 police, including snipers, will stand guard. Another 3000 will be on standby.
But a foreign security expert said: "I have to be frank. There is little in Kuta that will stop a recurrence of what happened a year ago."
