Police have resumed the search for an abalone diver taken by two great white sharks while diving off the South Australian coast.
Senior Constable Paul Noble said the diver was returning to the surface on Thursday evening when two sharks attacked him south of Perforated Island, near Coffin Bay.
The skipper of the boat witnessed the attack and was treated by ambulance officers for shock after the incident, which occurred about 6.20pm local time.
The search for the man's body was stopped in fading light on Thursday night and resumed at first light on Friday morning.
Snr Const Noble said there has been no trace of the man or any of his equipment at this stage.
The man's name and age have not been released yet.
He said police, the State Emergency Service and fisheries officials will scour the area surrounding the attack.
"It will certainly involve the aircraft wing and they will conduct a ground search for the surrounding beaches," he said.
