Three bottles of Mackinlays scotch flown to Scotland yesterday date back to the late 19th Century.
The bottles were found last year buried beneath a hut Ernest Shackleton had used during the 1907 British Antarctic Expedition.
The whisky will be studied and tasted in a lab for six weeks before being returned to Shackleton's hut at Cape Royds.
