Temple and Belton school districts have gone into a "soft-lockdown" following a shooting incident at Fort Hood reports online US news media site, TDTNews.com
Spokeswoman Regina Baird said the Killeen Independent School District was asked by the Temple Police Department to go into the lockdown and that as a consequence, traffic coming in and out of associated schools and campuses was going to be limited.
Temple Police spokesman Brad Hunt said dismissal times at the school were going to remain the same as usual, and that the lockdown was a precaution because of the incident.
Hunt could not elaborate on any information he had about the incident but did say there would be more officers on campus.
Fort Hood military base is home to nine schools - seven elementary schools and two middle schools.
These schools were all were on lockdown, said Killeen school spokesman Todd Martin.
