KEY POINTS:
Fiji's military Government has ordered schools to raise the flag and sing the national anthem regularly "to instil more national pride" in children.
Education Minister Filipe Bole has sent letters to every school directing them to observe the flag-raising ceremony every week and to allow all students and teachers to recite the oath and sing the anthem.
The measure is included in the People's Charter, a democracy-driven document masterminded by Fiji's self-appointed Prime Minister, Frank Bainimarama, who has led the country since a December 2006 coup and has still not called an election.
