Sars has reached Finland, and the international death toll climbed to at least 538 yesterday when Taiwan reported two new deaths.
One victim was a dentist in southern Kaohsiung, an indication that the illness has spread from the north of the island. The location of the other death was not disclosed.
In Finland, a man who had been on holiday in Toronto, Canada, was infected with Sars.
University of Turku Central Hospital said he was recovering well, and that no one who had been in contact with him had shown any symptoms.
