MOSCOW (AP) Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry says one of its planes is flying the head of the nation's highest court home from Ghana following a car accident there.
Ministry spokeswoman Irina Rossius said Wednesday in a statement carried by Russian news agencies that Vyacheslav Lebedev, the chairman of Russia's Supreme Court, was in stable condition on board the ministry's plane en route to Moscow. An emergency medical team is treating him during the flight.
Lebedev had been in the West African nation to attend a conference of the country's bar association. Monday's accident occurred when a truck veered into the lane in which Lebedev's convoy was traveling. He was airlifted to a military hospital in Accra by the Ghanaian military.
