Mitt Romney has notched his fourth victory in the Republican state primary process, fetching 39 per cent in the north-eastern state of Maine in an informal presidential preference caucus poll.
Ron Paul received 36 per cent, Rick Santorum won 18 per cent and Newt Gingrich took six per cent of the votes in the ongoing battles for the Republican Party presidential nomination.
Romney has already won state primaries in New Hampshire, Florida and Nevada. Santorum has four victories in Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri and Iowa, while Gingrich took South Carolina.
Party leaders announced the Maine results on Saturday. The caucuses began February 4 and continued through the week.
Romney easily won the Maine caucuses in 2008.
