A website designed for if Mitt Romney won the US Presidential Election has briefly gone live, despite the Republican being soundly beaten in the race for the White House.
For a short time on Wednesday (local time), the day after the election, a draft version of the website could be seen on a server belonging to the company who put the site together, Utah software shop called SolutionStream.
The website included a placeholder for Romney's acceptance speech, and patriotic quotes such as "the 21st Century must be an American century. The torch America carries is one of decency and hope" adorn the top of each page. The quotes are attributed to "President-Elect Mitt Romney".
The gaffe was spotted by the blog Politcal Wire, who posted four screenshots, before the site was quickly taken down.
One of the owners of SolutionStream, Jason Thelin, told The Huffington Post he was not sure if he was allowed to talk about the project, but the website had been handed over to the Romney campaign.
