Rioters battle police

Rioters have pelted police with fire bombs and stones in a working class neighbourhood of Algiers, witnesses say, and about 50 people were injured.

Violence broke out when police, acting on a judge's order, arrived to raze shacks, some of which were built illegally on a football pitch.
