KEY POINTS:
A nurse at a rest home in Belgium has confessed to killing four elderly residents, reports the Belga news agency.
The male head nurse murdered the patients with insulin overdoses, court officials in the north-west Belgian city of Gand.
Police have also charged the man with the killing of a fifth pensioner and the attempted murder of another.
A doctor at the nursing home found two vials of insulin in the room of a patient who didn't suffer diabetes and contacted police.
Another resident was taken to hospital in a coma.
Five residents aged between 86 and 93 died at the Gand rest home during the last week of August.
