BRAZZAVILLE, Republic of Congo (AP) Authorities in Republic of Congo say more than 40 members of the military are being detained by soldiers from neighboring Angola.
Col. Christian Samuel Sansa, an officer based at the police station in Dolisie, said Thursday the Angolan forces arrived Sunday.
Military officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to speak to reporters said the Angolan forces were pursuing separatist rebels who have used Congolese soil to regroup.
But Angola's ambassador, Pedro Fernando Mavoundza, denied the Angolan army had entered Republic of Congo.
The troubled Angolan province of Cabinda has been the site of fighting between the military and separatist forces since 1975.
