Nicolas Sarkozy has apologised to a policewoman after she was hit by a tomato thrown by his teenage son.
Louis, the 15-year-old son of Sarkozy and his ex-wife Cecilia, was playing with friends on Friday in the courtyard of the Elysee when a tomato was thrown in the direction of the policewoman on the street outside. A pellet also hit her on the cheek.
The policewoman filed a criminal report but the case was dropped after an apology from Louis' embarrassed father, according to a police source.
The President's office declined to comment.
The President prides himself on being tough on crime.
