Giant African rats have become man's second-best friend, joining dogs to sniff out landmines in Mozambique.
Eight Gambian giant pouched rats are working with dogs and metal detectors in Vilanculos, 650km northeast of the capital, Maputo.
They are helping to clear a stretch of land that has lain fallow since the civil war ended in 1992.
