World Wildlife Fund conservationists say they have found proof that there are still rare giraffe-like okapi in Congo's Virunga National Park, a war-torn area where they were thought to be extinct.
The shy forest creature, first discovered in 1901, had not been seen in the park since 1959.
It was seen elsewhere but there were concerns it had become extinct in the place of its discovery.
WWF said: "As peace returns, it shows that protected areas are becoming havens for rare wildlife once more."
