SYDNEY - A 14-year-old girl who revealed on-air during a controversial lie detector stunt that she had been raped has told NSW Police she does not want to proceed with an investigation.
The girl was strapped to a lie detector as part of a segment on the Kyle and Jackie O 2Day FM radio show on July 29 and asked about her sexual history.
She then revealed she had been raped when she was 12.
Public and political outrage erupted over the segment, with many condemning radio host Kyle Sandilands for his treatment of the girl during the segment.
The Kyle and Jackie O show was taken off the air while station owners Austereo conducted a review, and Sandilands has also been dumped as a judge on Network Ten's Australian Idol.
NSW Police began investigating the rape claim and the Department of Community Services met with the family involved.
A police spokeswoman said the girl had told police on Wednesday she did not want the investigation to continue.
"The 14-year-old girl met with investigators in the presence of her mother on the 31st of July ... where she was formally interviewed," the spokeswoman said.
"The girl has formally advised officers that she does not wish for the investigation to continue."
