Quickie divorces in Colombia

Colombia's President Alviro Uribe will sign a decree this week letting Colombians divorce by mutual consent in 30 minutes.

The superintendent of the national registry, Manuel Neck, noted: "This is a positive measure that will give more speed to the proceedings and means it no longer needs to go before a judge."

Colombia has a divorce backlog of about 1.5 million couples.
