SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) Puerto Rico's justice secretary is under fire for going to a police station to visit a former law firm partner who had been arrested for alleged drunk driving.
Luis Sanchez Betances says he did not intervene with police or ask for any special favors. But Gov. Alejandro Garcia Padilla says he has requested an official report to determine whether anything improper occurred. And the opposition New Progressive Party filed a complaint Tuesday with the Government Ethics Office.
Police say 66-year-old Jaime Sifre Rodriguez was arrested Friday after a test revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.21 percent, more than twice the legal limit.
