SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) Puerto Rico officials are using a $4.85 million federal loan to help build a water park and theater in the northwest tourist town of Rincon.
U.S. territory Resident Commissioner Pedro Pierluisi says the water park will be built near the Friendship Plaza. He said Tuesday that the theater will be part of an 8,000-square-foot (743-square-meter) recreational center that will be built at the site of the old Rincon Theater. It will include a boardwalk.
Municipal officials said they did not know when construction of the projects would begin.
Rincon is surfing and whale-watching spot that attracts thousands of tourists a year.
