SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) Police in Puerto Rico have rescued the crew of a Coast Guard boat that capsized amid large waves off the north coast of the U.S. territory.
U.S. Coast Guard spokesman Ricardo Castrodad says the crew was responding Friday morning to a call about two people who were supposedly having trouble in the water. Castrodad says the information the caller provided turned out to be incorrect and that the Coast Guard has called off the search.
He said the three men aboard the 33-foot (10-meter) boat are doing well. The incident occurred about a mile north of the Caribe Hilton hotel in the capital of San Juan.
Local meteorologists warned of waves of more than 8 feet (two meters) along Puerto Rico's north coast on Friday.
