KEY POINTS:
AMSTERDAM - Now is the time to cross on a red light in Amsterdam.
Dutch police unions have called on officers not to issue fines for minor violations for one week starting on Wednesday in support of a wage claim.
"To give an example, if somebody crosses on a red light ... then the colleague can decide to talk to the person and issue a warning ... but not issue a fine," a union official told public broadcaster NOS on Monday.
This type of industrial action is likely to be more popular than police work stoppages which meant Sunday's soccer match between league leaders Ajax Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven had to be postponed.
