DAKAR, Senegal (AP) Several dozen people have demonstrated in support of the son of Senegal's former president as he made an appearance in court.
Authorities charged Karim Wade with illicit enrichment back in April following a months-long investigation into how he amassed a fortune of more than $1.3 billion.
Wade, who was a government minister during his father's presidency, has been jailed pending trial.
Wade supporter Abdoulaye Mbengue said Wednesday that judicial officials have no evidence to prove the charges against Wade.
Abdoulaye Wade lost a presidential runoff vote in March 2012 and stepped down after 12 years in power.
