Prince Harry: 'I was just as nervous as William'

Prankster Prince Harry says it was his responsibility to ensure everything went according to plan at brother William's wedding, but admits he was as nervous as the groom.

"I was quite glad when it was over though, bit of a blur," said Harry of the April 29 nuptials during a BBC interview for his grandmother's Diamond Jubilee.

The 27-year-old third-in-line to the throne was best man for his older sibling who married Catherine Middleton in a ceremony at London's Westminster Abbey watched by millions around the globe.

"I think I was just as nervous as William," said Harry in the documentary screened in the UK on Monday night.

"Being the ring bearer was a bit of a responsibility and I had it in the cuff coz I had no pockets, so I was having to try and check to make sure it was there without making it obvious.

"As far as I was concerned I was there to support him, to tell him how great he is - it was his day so I had to lie a bit - and just make sure that he wasn't too nervous and just make sure that everything was going to go according to plan."

After their wedding ceremony the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge emerged from Buckingham Palace with William behind the wheel of his father's convertible Aston Martin Volante.

The younger prince took the opportunity during the interview to have a swipe at his brother's driving skills.

"William has been trying to drive that car for years and the couple of times he has driven it at home he's stalled it," Harry said. "It is a very difficult car to drive, combined with the fact that he can't drive. But to make it even harder he had his spurs on which made it very entertaining to see him sort of du, du, du, du out of Buckingham Palace."
