ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands (AP) Customs inspectors in the U.S. Virgin Islands have seized a shipment of marijuana from California that was hidden in cans of Chinese noodles.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection says the 136 pounds (62 kilograms) of marijuana was inside 68 cans of La Choy Chow Mein Noodles. The agency says in a statement Monday that the contraband was worth an estimate $231,000.
The noodle cans were in a shipment from California but no arrests were made. The agency says a federal task force that focuses on drug smuggling in the U.S. Caribbean territories is investigating.
