A convicted New Zealand drug trafficker serving 15 years in a Bali jail could have three months shaved off his sentence.
Antony de Malmanche was jailed after earlier this year being found guilty of drug offences. The Whanganui man, found with 1.7 kilograms of methamphetamine in his backpack at Denpasar International Airport in December, could have faced the death penalty.
De Malmanche claimed he was duped and did not know the drugs were there.
Now it's emerged he could have three months shaved off his time in jail as Indonesia reduces sentences for well behaved inmates, part of its Independence Day celebrations.
According to media reports, Kerobokan Prison governor Sudjonggo said de Malmanche's name was put forward for a reduction.
