Pope makes two-minute appearance to deliver blessing

ROME - Pope John Paul appeared briefly from his hospital window on Sunday, blessing people gathered below and at one point reaching to his throat which was operated on last week.

Looking stiff and awkward, the Pope also waved twice from the 10th floor window of the Gemelli hospital before aides wheeled his chair away. He appeared for about two minutes.

The 84-year-old Pope is recovering from surgery last Thursday aimed at ease his breathing problems.
