WARSAW, Poland (AP) Hundreds of Polish and Israeli youths have paid homage to the victims of the former Nazi death camp of Treblinka.
Israeli Ambassador Zvi Rav-Ner and former Treblinka inmate, 90-year-old Samuel Willenberg, accompanied some 400 youths on the visit. They observed a minute of silence and lit six candles, one for each of the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust.
The fourth annual event in eastern Poland was held Wednesday.
The Nazis killed some 900,000 Europe's Jews in Treblinka's gas chambers between 1942 and 1943. Another 10,000 died of exhaustion and disease in the Treblinka labor camp, active from 1941-44.
