Police steal from cars

British police are combing the upmarket London neighbourhood of Richmond for things to steal.

Scotland Yard said police were checking unlocked cars for valuables and sometimes taking them to remind drivers to keep their doors locked, windows closed and possessions out of sight.

But lawyer and Richmond resident Orlando Pownall said police could be prosecuted for trespass.
