Police say family deaths may be murder-suicide

Police believe a mother in Port Denison, Western Australia, may have killed her two daughters before committing suicide.

The discovery of the bodies of Heather Glendinning, 46, and daughters Jessica Cuzens, 10, and Jane Cuzens, 12, this week shocked the fishing village 360km north of Perth.

A third daughter, Grace, 13, is living with her grandparents in Perth.

It's believed her father, Broome livestock manager Harley Cuzens, has flown to be with his surviving daughter.

Forensic investigators said the scene was one of the worst they had attended and have been offered counselling.

An autopsy was expected to be conducted on Glendinning yesterday, and police said they would draw no firm conclusions until all inquiries were completed.

But Detective Inspector Dave Bryson, of the major crimes squad, told reporters police were not looking for a third party in what had become a very complex and difficult investigation.

"Forensic investigation continues, as does the work of the investigators at the scene," Bryson said.

"As with all homicides we remain open-minded, we are not tunnel-visioned, and as more evidence comes in we will look at it.

"But on the basis of the evidence we now have, we do not believe there is another party involved."
